Semena pocházejí z našich rostlin, z loňského roku. Opět se potvrdila rychlá klíčivost semen tohoto rodu, i když teplota v místnosti nebyla nijak vysoká – ve dne cca 18 °C a v noci cca 16°C. Semena začala klíčit 7. den od výsevu (P. quinquelobatum), 16. den od výsevu (P. barklyi) a 18. den od výsevu (P. aridum). Při vyšších teplotách však semena pelargonií klíčí i 3 až 5. den po jejich vysetí.
P. quinquelobatum mě nyní překvapila malým procentem klíčivosti semen. Dříve jsem měl výsledky lepší - vyséval jsem brzy po dozrání semen. Semena z lednového výsevu byla sbírána v průběhu celého loňského roku, neboť tento druh lze držet ve vegetaci po celý rok a také téměř po celý rok kvete. Možná měla některá semena již sníženou klíčivost. Důvod může být samozřejmě jiný.
Na výsev jsem použil čistou pemzu. Výhody jsou nesporné – žádná sterilizace substrátu, žádné smutnice, žádné řasy atd. Jelikož pemza nemá žádnou výživovou hodnotu, zalil jsem semenáčky poměrně brzy vodou s přídavkem hnojiva. Přesné datum již nevím (asi 10. února). Každopádně jsem počkal, až semenáčky vytvoří pravý list.

I was suprised, seeds of P. quinquelobatum had a low percentage of germination. Previously, I had better results - I have sown soon after ripening seeds. Seeds from January sowing were collected throughout last year. P. quinquelobatum can be grown all year round without rest and blooms nearly year-round. Maybe some seeds had already reduced germination. Of course, the reason may be different.
I used pure pumice for sowing. The benefits are indisputable - no sterilization of the substrate, no threat of fungus gnats or algae etc. Since pumice has no nutritional value, I added soluble fertilizer to the watering qiute early. I don´t already know the exact date (about February 10). Anyway, I waited until the seedlings forming a leaf.
